Mehdi is from Shahsavar, Iran. In 2012, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in gas processing and transmission from the Petroleum University of Technology. Since 2015, he has a master’s degree in chemical engineering (design of separation processes) from the University of Tehran. Due to his passion for the environment and energy-efficient processes, specifically in water treatment, his project mainly focused on the development of an application of dual-layered hollow fiber membrane in the direct contact membrane distillation process. Subsequently, over a period of two years, he continued his research on desalination processes and the scaling up of modules. Following this education and academic research, he joined the pharmaceutical industry as a quality control engineer for about four years. Arrived in October 2022 in Quebec, he began an academic career within the LTB group of the University of Sherbrooke as a doctoral student to carry out research on the production of biogas from industrial waste (pulp and paper) as well as on urban organic waste
