Juan Alberto Chavez Ruiz has a background in Chemical Engineering and master’s degree in chemistry from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte, as well as a PhD in Chemistry from Universidade Estadual de Campinas and a specialization in Project Management from Fundação Getúlio Vargas. He was a Lead Researcher at the Gas Processing Laboratory at the Center for Gas Technologies and Renewable Energy. He also taught the Professional Master’s Program in Process Engineering at Universidade Potiguar. From 2024 to 2025, he served as a visiting professor at the Biomass Technologies Laboratory (BTL). He is currently a Lead Researcher at the SENAI Institute for Innovation in Renewable Energy at the Sustainability Laboratory and has joined the PhD program in chemical engineering at the University of Sherbrooke. He has experience in evaluating new technologies for power generation with CO2 capture via chemical looping, greenhouse gas mitigation using microfluidic systems and synthesis of new catalytic materials. During his previous stay at the BTL, he worked on the development of catalysts for the CO2 conversion process via water gas shift reverse reaction, within the scope of ISI-ER’s GALP068 and PPGE projects, as well as CO2 capture and conversion technologies.
