Estefanía Orrego Restrepo was born in Rionegro, Antioquia, Colombia. She got her Physics Engineer and Master in Chemist Engineering from Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Her master’s thesis is about the slow pyrolysis of cellulose, studying the volatile products by FTIR technique and Gas Chromatography. In Colombia, she was part of project P4-Poligeneration Energética 2030. There, she worked on the characterization of biomass and its products in different thermochemical processes. She passionately researches processes that lead to sustainability, including molecular separation and quantification in biomass and its derivatives. At BTL, she is working on the development of analytical procedure technologies for the characterization of biobased molecules.
