Professor Eduardo Lins of Barros Neto has a background in chemical engineering from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte – UFRN / Brazil (bachelor and master degrees) and from the École Nationale Supérieure des Ingénieurs en Arts Chimiques et Technologiques – France (Ph. D). Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the UFRN for more than 20 years, he is the director of the Laboratório of Tecnologia de Tensoativos e Biocombustíveis. His research interests include surfactant technology for various application, such as biofuels, heavy metal extraction, and others. He is also working on biomass valorization, aiming the production of surfactants, bioadsorbents as well as biofuels. Pr Eduardo Lins is currently at the BTL as a visiting professor for 1 year to develop a collaboration between the two laboratories with student mobility. During his stay at the BTL, he will develop new levulinic acid derivatives, targeting applications, such as the production of additives for gasoline and diesel.
