Mahtab Norouzi is originally from Iran. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Kerman University of Technology (KUT) in 2015, where she focused on membrane technologies for water treatment. That same year, she began her master’s studies in Chemical Engineering at the University of Tehran. Her thesis focused on the degradation of phenol using Ag-TiO₂ nanofibers under visible light.
After completing her master’s degree in 2018, Mahtab worked for five years in various chemical engineering roles across different industries in Iran, primarily as an R&D specialist and control engineer.
In April 2025, she moved to Quebec and joined the BTL and GRTP research groups at the University of Sherbrooke as a doctoral student. Her current research focuses on the pyrolysis of biomass and plastic using cold plasma and microwave technologies.
